Synopsis

What begins as an ordinary afternoon after the final middle-school exam becomes unforgettable for Samaa (15) when Ali (17) enters the picture—a single boy who turns the day into a quiet reckoning of maturity, identity, and jealousy between Samaa and her best friend Marwa (15).

About the Director

Menna Ekram is an Egyptian writer, director, and producer. She holds an MFA from the Red Sea Institute of Cinematic Arts (RSICA) and an MA in Feature Filmmaking as a Chevening Scholar. She has written for major TV series including Heba Crow’s Feet (Ugly Betty Egypt) and Seventh Neighbor. Menna has created over ten short films and collaborates with cultural and social organizations. Her award-winning shorts include The Wheel (2015), Colorblind (2019), and Let’s Play Yesterday (2023). She also produced the Egyptian-British feature Standing at the Ruins, co-production by Saeed Farouki chosen in FINAL CUT in the 82nd Edition of Venice International, She is a co-founder of Ikhtyar, supporting feminist and independent cinema initiatives.

About the Writer

Omnia Adel is an Egyptian film critic, Managing Editor of El Film Magazine, board member of the Egyptian Film Critics Association (EFCA), and a member of the Cinematic Professions Syndicate. She works as a programmer for the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival and serves on selection committees for Cairo, Ismailia, and Alexandria film festivals, in addition to
editing their catalogs. Omnia writes for several cultural platforms and publications. She authored The Hidden Path of Filmmakers and is currently researching her second book, El-Moqawalat.
Alongside her criticism, she developed her short film “Tastes Like Vanilla” in multiple script development labs.
