HerStory Films Mena

About the Program

This is a call for female film directors to apply to HerStory Films film incubator with their short film projects. In today’s ever evolving creative scene, providing an opportunity for women to find themselves and gain their place in the industry is an essential step, not only to develop their artistic skills, but also to bring their perspective to the process and the story. We believe that the more women are part of the filmmaking industry in leadership positions the more we change the narrative across all segments.

HerStory Films Film Incubator offers an introduction to the filmmaking industry and capacity building for 20 emerging women filmmakers through the first ever Incubator for Female Filmmakers in Egypt with a focus on gender sensitive capacity building. The Incubator is a talent-focused development program. Filmmakers come to the Incubator with a short film project. The main aim is to provide specific knowledge, skills, connections and inspiration to enable each participant to advance themselves and their careers.

Three female directors from the incubator will receive production grants for their short films, aiming to challenge the narrative around women in cinema.

This program is proudly funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Egypt.
