Synopsis

A young caregiver looks after Mady, an older woman slipping into dementia and aggressively denying her condition.

About the Director

Mona Daoud graduated from Alexandria University with a BA in English Literature. She began her career as a Mediterranean Literature researcher at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina before moving to Cairo to pursue a writing career. There, she established herself as a writer and editor for various publications, as well as an advertising copywriter.

Mona wrote and directed Ali’s Secret, which was screened at the Lift-Off Sessions Film Festival and the KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival. She also wrote Pillowman, developed under the supervision of Yousry Nasrallah. Mona is currently writing her first feature-length film, Salima, which she will also direct. Her work often explores themes of social isolation, loneliness, and the distortions of memory and perception.
